MOUNT KARKOM JEEP TOURS

MOUNT KARKOM is a remote location that attracts many high-quality tourists.

By some, it is considered to be a Holy Mountain, as some Christian believers claim that it is the actual biblical "Mountain of Good", where God handed the ten commandment to the people of Israel.

Another unique feature of this special mountain is called "THE BURNING BUSH", as some researchers believe it could be linked to the biblical story of Abraham and Izik. This is a spectacular optical phenomenon, in which the morning sun rays pass through a tight hole between the cliffs, creating a glittering or shiny effect, similar to burning fire.

This occurs every year, around the shortest day of the year (2 weeks before and after 22 December).

Yet another appealing factor of this very special place are remnants of ancient temples, dated back to the Paleolithic era.

Mysterious carvings on stones, dated 4500 years back, and strange ceremonial stone structures. One of those has been identified as an ancient Leopard trap.

Weather you come as a believer, an archeologist or a mere lover of nature - Visiting Mount KarKom is a very impressive experience, that takes at least one full day; Our convoy of 4x4 vehicles leaves the city of Mitzpe Ramon very early in the morning, driving offroad for more than 3 hours, through breath-taking biblical landscapes. As we reach the mountain base (which is located only a few kilometers off the Egyptian border), the group usually goes out for a 4-5-hour hike through the different interesting spots, in a circular rout.

After the hike, we usually have a small lunch break and the head back, for yet another 3-hour Jeep ride, and finish our day after sunset.

You are advised to be equipped with walking shoes, a wide hat, water of a full day, and some light breakfast or fruits.

Lunch is usually communal but very modest.
